Memorial Day
This morning's crossfit workout was dedicated to Lt. Michael P. Murphy, who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.

It was a BRUTAL workout! But an honor to participate in remembering such a hero.
Got me thinking about my grandfather, who served on USS Arizona until 6 months before it sunk at Pearl Harbor. At that time he was transferred to Kaneohe Bay, which is located across the island from Pearl Harbor. When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, they found such little resistance that out of (boredom?) they flew across the island to attack Kaneohe Bay. The stories he told of that day and WWII while he was alive are nothing short of miraculous and incredible
I'm probably being too sentimental, and my age is certainly showing when I rant this way. But it's so important to pass these things on to our children. Our family members fought and died. ARE fighting right now. May we never forget them or take them for granted!
Happy Memorial Day! Let's take time to remember what this holiday really means and where our freedoms really come from.
