Practice Wall in Moab Area
Hello Canyoneers -
Can anyone recommend a practice wall in the Moab area? The closer to Moab the better. Basically looking for a place to practice rappelling, ascending, lowering/haul systems. Ideally 40 ft+ and quick to get hike back to the top.
Thanks!

This might be frowned upon now, but my buddy and I used to park the truck right by the toll gate, tie to the hitch, and rappel down here. Quick hike or drive back to the top.

Beech's spot is good, Mark uses that as well. Get some funny looks with ropes tied off to guardrails.

Actually there is another spot about 1/4 mile down the road from there also. Tie off to guardrail. Mtn. bikers use it some going down as a mini-lions back.

If you want a spot off by yourself and want to hike or drive a jeep in a bit there is a good spot on the cliff hanger-amasa back trail. We take a jeep around for the anchor but there are alot of big rocks there that would work. Hike down the jeep trail and up the other side. After you come out of the creek walk up the road until the road starts to go right. When the road goes right keep walking straight ahead. Look at the area and go as far as it looks like you could drive a jeep. We climb over a few small ledges in the jeep but after about 50 to 100 yds or so a jeep would have to stop. Right there it is about 120' -150'ft back down to the stream. Awesome rappel. Easy start and free hang as well as touching the wall. When down you can walk down stream about 25 yds and climb back up to where you started. When we were new to the sport my kids probably did that one rappel 100's of times. I'll look for some pictures and post later. Great spot.

theres a place just down along wall street that has a quick easy wayup. i even think it called the practice area. its down the river on the north side.
But if I agreed with you, we would both be wrong.
