Should You Fold and Roll Up a Thermarest?
My wife and I finally got the last of our backpacking gear tonight at REI but had a question about a Thrermarest Trail Lite pad. Is it ok to fold them in half and then roll them up?
I'd really like to keep the pad inside my pack so the smaller the better but I'm a little concerned that folding it might cause wear on the crease.
Anyways, thanks for you help.

not a problem. have done the exact same thing for years. it does make it fit nicer inside the pack. get a small tube of seam seal for any punctures you may develop.
But if I agreed with you, we would both be wrong.

I also fold my thermarest pad like that. I've never had a problem with wear on a crease, but I also don't leave it like that other than to put it in my pack. Ditto on fitting better into a pack.
