Lower Grand Gulch routes down from watercanyon

My brother and I are going into the lower section of the grand gulch for a few days.
we were going to hike from collins spring down to shaw arch but were wondering if there is a way down watercanyon to cut some hiking and time off our trip seeing that we are only interested in seeing good rock art. I was wondering how far down shaw arch is from the confluence of watercanyon and grand gulch. I would appreciate any input seeing that the rangers in monticello havent a clue about this area and that is the only contact I have found for trying to get some info.
