Fox News Calls Mr. Rogers "An Evil, Evil Man"

prosebeforehos.com "Little did I know, Mr. Rogers was an evil man. By telling children they're special just for being who they are, he helped create this generation of worthless, lazy socialists." Only on Fox News could a man who spent his life dedicated to public service and education be blamed for ruining generations of Americans.

Little did I know, Mr. Rogers was an evil man. By telling children they’re special just for being who they are, he helped create this generation of worthless, lazy socialists who think they’re entitled to health care… at least according to Fox News.

They actually use the word “evil” to describe Mr. Rogers and criticize him for his “optimistic message where everyone was special even if they didn’t deserve it”, which is “ruining kids with a sense of entitlement.” Then one of them starts babbling about how children should go back to churning butter and making their own sweaters. Fox’s Brian Kilmeade said “that man unintentionally did a whole generation or two a disservice.” Only on Fox could a man who spent his life dedicated to public service and education be blamed for ruining generations of Americans.

And if you are interested in the ’study’ done by the LSU professor, it’s available at the Wall Street Journal: Blame It on Mr. Rogers: Why Young Adults Feel So Entitled.

According to his bio he entered the seminary after college and was an ordained Presbyterian minister. Does Fox know they're attacking a fellow christian?

if everyone is special then no one is special. if something is special, that means that it is different than the norm. if being special is the norm, then not being part of the norm is actually special.

this whole idea of positive thinking is a farce. people have gotten into their heads that they are entitled to be happy. when the truth is, is that life sucks, it's hard, boring, and bad things happen.

life isn't supposed to be all good times. suck it up, get tough and deal with it.

prior to the mr. rogers et al.. era, generations did not have such expectations. do ou think your grandparents were so concerned about being happy and having high self esteem? not likely. the reality is that you probably won't be happy, perhaps most of the time. that's life.

i told my son early on. one of the toughest lessons in life. that life is just not fair.

Fox News better not say anything negative about the original dood, good ol' Buffalo Bob. Wasn't for him, I never would have known what time it is.

I seldom agree with Fox News, but I am totally down with this.

what a crock. I feel bad for you guys who don't feel entitled to happiness. "you probably won't be happy most of the time, that's life"

what a depressing way to feel about life.

I don't know how you can interpret mr rogers message of "you are special" as something that is to be blamed for making people lazy, entitled, etc.

If you feel like it's a bad thing to feel like there's something unique about each of us, and that it's okay to be happy because of that, then you are probably a great fit for Fox News.

you want to blame something on the entitlement complex - it's called the disneyification of our world. just remember, when your little girl whom you've told over and over that "she's a princess", becomes that spoiled little b@#$h of a teenager/sub-adult - you are to blame.

Not to be a pollyanna, but I suspect we're all a lot closer on this topic than it seems.

Certainly we've all seen how a struggling kid who gets involved in sports, music, drama, etc. can find that they are then motivated to do better in other areas. Isn't that a form of feeling "special" about themselves?

As to drugs and ADHD and other cognitive/behavioral issues, I'm on the side of using science and peer-reviewed analysis instead of info-tainment. We know a lot more about how the brain works and how we learn now than we did decades ago. Sometimes I think drugs are helpful but there may be also a rush to label and find a quick fix. BTW, I have some experience in this personally, but not exactly related to ADHD and for us drugs did not appear to be a good choice.
