I believe that "y'all" is singular while all "y'all" is plural. So I would think that "all y'all" would be correct. (I lived in Texas for only a year so I may just be wrong about this)

but I've also found y'all ok for small group settings. not as formal as all y'all in small group settings. for large groups, always all y'all.

Anyone using "all y'all" anywhere in Texas (or the south) would be instantly recognized as a yankee....

Then I sure came across a lot of yankees in San Antonio. I heard it all the time, church, school, just about any group setting.

    "Y'all" or "y'all's"....

    but never "all y'all"....

heard all y'all in Houston area (including rural parts too) spoken by native Texans nearly daily following the above rules.

"y'all's" is possessive. Like, "Is that y'all's truck parked over there?" and, so you know, I confirmed this with a native, born and raised in the Lone Star State Texan, "All y'all" is proper plural and native Texan. This native is my associate here at my firm. I'm tellin' ya, I lived there and it was not the yankees or Utah accented folks saying "all y'all". It was the natives.

so we need Alison to post so we can have 4 people with ties to Texas tell Shane is full of it

It isn't just Texan's that say "all ya'll". I have lived for 6 years throughout Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennesse, this phrase was heard very often. Sometimes I would try to be creative and use reckon, aimin, and fixin in one sentence. Never once did anyone raise an eyebrow. It was almost like I was a true blooded hillbilly.
