Size: 105.2 KBWe got campsite 15 and its about 1/2 a mile further from the Arch hike turnoff. I was thinking "Did we miss the sign for cs 15" didn't seem like we would ever make it. Early season hiking, its been a long winter on the couch :(. Laverking creek was running pretty good muddy too so it was a little challenging getting the kids across to the campsite but not too bad. We setup and lounged around and went to bed early. The next morning we packed up and went by the Arch on the way out. It was a great weekend and I think the kids even want to do another trip .

Cool TR. Sounds like a good time was had by all.
Those boys are growing up fast.

Cool TR! You came up the La Verkin Creek trail? How old are your kids? How much weight did you have them carrying for their first backpacking trip? I was considering this trail but leaning toward the Hop Valley trail for a backpacking trip with my 8 year old in May (couple days before the Family Fest, if I can get the time off). Looks fun!

They were packed pretty light. The 9yo about 6-7 pounds and the 15yo had 10-12. We parked at Lees Pass and did an out and back. I have heard the Hop Valley Trail is a little gentler to get out but the shuttle is long. I guess we could have gone in and out there (didn't think of it). That was my third time and I have always done the Lees Pass trail. I guess next time I will try going in and out the Hop Valley Trail.

I've only done it from Hop Valley. It was great then, but some of that might have been the company. Seems like it would be a good one to take an 8 year old...

I've heard the scenery on Hop Valley is not as great as Lees Pass. But that might be because these people went from Hop Valley during cow season.
