aerial acrobatic skiing from 1969 to 1983. You can find this segment

At the time it was unheard of.

Oh man I would have loved to win that Vega.
What a GREAT ski vehicle.

You could put your skis inside....er maybe not to short.
You could mount them on the roof...er maybe not no rain gutters.

But it goes like crazy in 2-3 inches of snow. Except up hills.
Of course you can always stay very warm if you have an accident.

ahh wayne wong. i was too young in the 70s to "remember it" but i did watch a number of the ski movies he was in. the ski journal recently had a nice interview with him.

Origins of Freestyle Skiing

This film segment is from Dick Barrymore's "The Golden Years of Ski Films". It highlights the origins of skiing and of Hot Dog Skiing. The World's first Hot Dog contest was on March 10, 1971 at Aspen Colorado. Some skiers featured are Dave Wheeler,Squirrel O'Callahan, Scott Brooksbank, Airborne Eddie Ferguson and Greg Athens.

In 1983 Frank Bare performs the first triple twisting quadruple back flip. This is from Dick Barrymore's film entitled "The Golden Years of Ski films".
