Monster Munter
Here's anther tool to add to your gee-wiz file.... the "Monster Munter".
It's pretty cool.... best of all it doesn't twist your rope like the standard munter... I've embedded the video here but you might want to watch the large screen version at youtube where it's a little easier to follow the rope work. Going outside now to play with this knot.....

You know how those canyoneering instructors are.... spend 8 minutes telling you how great they are and provide 30 seconds of content.
....And I hear the Zion guides are even worse.....
On a side note.... Today, I found out my little sister was a stripper. At the same time, she found out that when I said I was having a "quiet birthday with some friends," what I really meant was "hiring a stripper to jump out of a cake."
Sorry.... that was the only video I could find on the Monster Munter.... I looked for a shorter one, but no luck.....

OK.... I have been looking around at the Monster Munter and discovered that is a Canadian name.... those crazy Canadians..... others in the world call it a "Double Munter" or "Super Munter".
From what I understand the best part about this hitch is that the "know it all" at the local crag has never heard or seen it before so you can use it to impress the ladies.....
I found a video that teaches the Monster Munter in 1:25.... of course the guy in the 9 minute video has better credentials.... I know that, cause he spent 8 minutes telling me....

Hey Shane,
Those two hitches are not the same. The second is merely a second wrap added to a normal munter, whereas the first is essentially a second munter on top of a somewhat normal munter. I say 'somewhat' cuz in tying the initial munter he's placing the loaded line away from the spine. He mentions using it for SAR - I wonder how long the SAR geeks debated that issue?!
And what's with the "my life is better than your vacation" line?? Hmm Damn guides...
