Snowshoeing the Red Mountain Mining District
Amanda and I decided to take my new JK down to Ouray today so that I could do some snowshoeing and so that we could check out the mountains this winter.
Our first stop just above Ouray
A few miles before reaching Red Mountain Pass, we pulled off the highway at CR 31 so I could do some snowshoeing.
The weather and the scenery were great. I ended up heading out about a mile to the first area containing some old mining structures and then I headed back the way I came. I was hoping to make it all the way to the Yankee Girl Mine, but I guess I'm not in that good of shape yet....especially at this elevation. I'll have to try this one again in the future.
