Flash Flood Watch in Southern Utah

    Hello Everyone,

It's Brian McInerney from the National Weather Service. I thought to let everyone know there is a large Pacific weather system moving into Southern Utah tonight. Rainfall estimates of 1.5 to 2.5 inches in a 12 hour period area expected. It will snow above 6500 ft., which should keep most rivers with mid and high elevations running a bit above baseflow, but lower elevations including slot canyons, dry washes, and small streams have the potential for flash flooding. A briefing on this event can be found at:

    http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/slc/wxbriefi...10/player.html

    Hope all is well.

    Brian.

    oldno7,

you have any particularly good waterfalls to not miss? Or just drive up canyon & look both sides...

Canyoneers usually get a big kick out of seeing Heaps from the Upper Emerald Pool if it's flowing strong.

If it really rains hard everything is good, here is a picture from Refrigerator Canyon (Angels Landing Hike).

    What Shane said^^^^
I've been there several times for waterfalls and it will vary with amount of precipitation coming down and the snow level. Optimum is when there is large snowpack and a warm winter storm comes in as rain up to 7-8000'
I really like Birch canyon on a huge water day.
I've also got pictures of the Emerald pools waterfalls that look like Niagara.

Telephone Canyon empties right at the Temple of Sinawava. That waterfall can also be very imprssive if conditions are right.

I've been beta testing this storm for you'all the last few days. It's definitely ready for release!

Yowzer! It's been wild and wet out here in the first set of hills those storms cross when they hit California.
