DVD copy software? What works?
Searched iin the archives first, and, found a couple discussions from the 2007 time period. Thought I'd ask from a "windows 7" 2009 perspective.
I have a disc I can copy on my computor, but, it won't play on my home DVD player. Its just an old copy of a VHS tape (which was a copy of an old film) and fairly low tech, but, it got me thinkin', hey, those Bogley guys probably copy DVDs...
Be nice to be able to insert a disc, hit "disc copy" and get a complete copy of a disc, DVD or CD.
I see a ton of software out there for sale and for free, but, which works well? I'm not really looking to pirate DVD movies or such.
Opinions? Any suggestions?

In fact it works so well I brought the full blown version so the kids could copy DVD's to their iPods and stuff.

what he said.
There's also DVD shrink. Sometimes you can download limited versions of Nero or Roxio for free, you could put the DVD chapters where you wanted.

If you're not looking to pirate DVD's (because most still have some form of bad sector or copy protection scheme), then I like either Roxio or Nero. Both (current versions) work on my Windows 7 Pro machines.

If you're copying a CD, just to make another CD you can put in your car or stereo, Windows Media Player is fine.
Most CDs will accept up to 80 minutes per music. Even though it can hold 700 MB of DATA, your music files may only take 100 MB. There's a difference between music that will play in a stereo, and data files.
But yeah, go with Windows Media Player for starters if you just want to burn another music CD, or mix tape.

Since we're on this thread, I've been looking to rip a few of my sky diving DVD's to WMV or some other format. What's the best method (via Windows 7) to convert a non-protected DVD to a single file?
