what really is the rub here for you? you lost, so you want something to whine about. hall gave you some fuel. utah has been doing this stuff for years. meyer wouldn't even refer to BYU by it's name, put byu logos in the urinals. you really can't isolate this one statement and tell me it sours the game for you. give me a friggin' break.
i don't think max should've said it. stupid thing to say, but that's max. he is a headcase. the real irony, is that he is running his mouth after yet another terrible performance against utah. if anything, that's where people can fault him.
but fault him for being mormon and hating the utes? lame. especially when you are faulting him for being unchristian, and then call him a jackass. classic.

Oh yeah, and just to refresh your memory... from your boy Morgan Scalley, a returned missionary and upstanding member of the church...

I not only hate the University of Michigan but I hate the whole state of Michigan. That being said one of my best friends is from Michigan and I mostly only really hate them in November although I might make fun of them year round. It is just part of the rivalry to talk trash and look down on each other.
Yes it was ironic having someone classlessly accuse Utah and its fan of being classless but I say give the guy a break."My heart shall cry out for Moab..." Isaiah 15:5

Honestly... I'm surprised any Ute fan gives a crap what Hall says... Hall barking was nothing, just part of the fun... Hall's football career is one more game and done so let him enjoy it...
The best throw down ever in the riverly was still BYU nose guard Lenny 'pump my gas' Gomes in 1993 with his:

Come on dood. There is a big difference between ME calling Max Hall a jackass on a small forum and him as the captain of BYU saying that he hates the entire University of Utah on national television and having the media run wild with it. There is an obvious difference between what is said here on bogley and what the players at BYU are representing when they speak. Of course this type of trash talk has been going on for years and years, no doubt about that.
I just found this particular rant rather long and very harsh. I am over the fact that the Utes lost. I'll be ready to watch them in a bowl game and I am excited for next year. I was planning on cheering for the BYU seniors in their bowl game (and possible attending) just like I was happy to see them win that way in their final game. I had no problem with Max and I didn't know that he was a headcase nor have I heard him say anything like this before. I was happy for him just like I was happy for Beck when he got a big win in his final season and game vs. Utah.
Yet this has to be one of the most boneheaded moves that I can remember by a BYU player. Can you think of something worse? The puzzling thing is that he should of been celebrating the big win (regardless of how he played) and all his success at BYU, not dwelling on something that happened a year ago. The comments shocked me and its not about needing something to talk about after a loss. I am not the only one that is talking about this. It is all over the local and national media. This is not what you want people to think of your university and certainly not at BYU. This is a PR nightmare...

how is this a nightmare? it's exactly what the media wants, and heck, the fans too. the guy spoke his mind. byu-utah getting play all over the nation? sounds like a good thing to me. but it's only getting media attention because this is the exact thing the media pokes and prods players to say all the time. and now one of them finally says it, and all the yewties shit themselves.
he didn't say anything inappropriate. he said he hates the utes, hates the organization, and hates their fans. well duh! what BYU player wouldn't? or vice-versa? and i already posted a video of utes saying the same thing.
it's not a PR nightmare. nothing will come of it. it's the day after a rivalry game, and there is a spicy quote out there from max hall. i see virtually no difference between this and collie's quotes. you losers will latch on to anything...

We obviously disagree about his comments being inappropriate.
I am not convinced that the story will fade away so quickly. Time will tell...

BYU QB Max Hall issues apology following post-game rant
"It was not intended to be directed at the entire organization and all of their fans and I apologize that it came out that way," the statement reads. "I have the utmost respect for Kyle Whittingham, his coaching staff and the Utah football players. I apologize to them and other members of the university for my comments."

He did right by apologizing for that language. It was clearly ridicules statement on his part. If he truly hated everything about the U then he could not be a member of his church which has several senior members that are alums of the U, or even attend BYU since its president is a former Ute and former dean of the U med school. Not to mention a U season ticket holder too.
Congrats to the Y on the win. You disrupted Utah momentum from the first quarter and settled and focused on the game while a couple Utah players committed several stupid unsportsmanlike penalties.

Yeah, I guess an apology statement was released last night. I noticed that this was on the homepage of every major media outlet this morning. Not going away so fast...
[quote]The BYU Athletic Media Relations Department issued the following statement from Max Hall on Sunday evening:
--
"I want to take the opportunity to clarify and apologize for a few of my remarks after the game yesterday.
Last year at RES my family was spit on, had beer dumped on them, and were physically assaulted on several occasions. They had to endure extremely vile comments personally attacking my wife, my mother, other family members, and our religion. They had to be escorted to their car by local police.
As a result of what happened to my family last year this rivalry became personal, and in the heat of the moment yesterday I made comments toward the entire university that were really directed specifically at those fans in RES. It was not intended to be directed at the entire organization and all of their fans and I apologize that it came out that way.
I have the utmost respect for Kyle Whittingham, his coaching staff, and the Utah football players. I apologize to them and other members of the university for my comments.
I'm also sorry if my comments took anything away from my teammates and coaches and our victory Saturday. The BYU-Utah game is a great rivalry, but no one should be treated the way my family was last year. I'm hoping that BYU and Utah fans can take steps to prevent future incidents at the game."

That is what makes these rivalries so good, a bunch of smack talk in the heat of the moment and its over. Paul Kruger did it, Scalley did it, now add Max hall to the mix and thats it? You bet it was ten times worse on the field, look at how many flags were thrown, Gotta be able to have log to keep the fire warm for next year don't we? It's about damn time someone shows a little emotion out of BYU and get through the filter. Get over it, I am sure all of those who have played sports have been in the heat of the moment, on a high block and went a little too far? Oh Well!!
Two wheels are better than four, keep the rubber side down.

As a Utah fan I have no problem with Max "head case" Hall's comments.... it just adds to the rivalry.
Hall's comments were much better cannon fodder than "it was a great game against a tough opponent". You already know the first thing the media will trot out next year when hyping the game is Hall's rant.
I think I would be more upset if I were a coug fan
