TR - 07/2009 - Pffierhorn and Red Pine Lake
So my friends and I wanted to climb Pffierhorn this summer, so we initially went up in June to attempt it, but there was way too much snow still and the lake was frozen. So we waited one month till July, and it drastically improved. Almost all of the snow was gone and the scenes were beautiful!
It took us a little over 5 1/2 hours to do a roundtrip. We encountered only 4 other people past the mountain above Red Pine Lake and the razor ridge to the top.
On the way down, we were looking for the fastest way down and went WAY off trail and in the bushwacking we stumbled upon 9 Mountain Goats grazing. We got within 15-20 feet and they didn't really care much that we were there. AWESOME! Also, more with the bushwacking we found 3 wild-turkeys, billions of birds, and a few deer running down a valley. Highly recommended hike! Thanks to Shane for the beta (as usual).
These pics were taken with my iphone (left my camera at home...again).
Enjoy!
