Going to City of Rocks tomorrow - suggestions?
o hai guys-
I'm taking my boy to the City of Rocks tomorrow... maybe Friday, we'll camp over one night and spend the other with a friend up in Idaho.
Looks like there are some hiking trails up there, any suggestions?
thx

It's not the "inner-city" of rocks.

There's a number of short and longer trails. Check with the visitor center as I think they have some free mappage that lists them (Circle Creek loop, etc).

Castle Rock is pretty neat too, right behind Almo. 4 bucks per car fee. Tends to be a bit warmer in the City, if its chilly up there. Wildflowers are kinda poppin'. Usually see the cactus bloom and some wild iris this time of year.
If you don't feel like cookin', the Outpost and/or Rock City both have food. Tracy's General Store is open most days except Sunday.
Might hit the Castle this weekend...see about that weather (there last weekend and a few weekends before that...).
Have fun. Its a great place to wander around.
Oh, and there's rumor of some rock climbing, too...ha ha...

If you have an child adept at trad climbing Id really recommend adolescent homo sapien on the east bread wall. as to hiking, trails stretch out all over, take your pick, every one of them offers something worth seeing.
