Zion’s Zion of Zions.
Ok, I’m just going to start off this post by admitting that I am, occasionally, an ass. I know it. Being a divorcé I sometimes relish the roll of complete asshole, especially at work.
So here’s my rant; on a regular basis in verbal conversation and in posts on this and other outdoor forums Zion Nation Park is referred to as Zions or Zion’s National Park.
How did this happen? It’s always been just the one national park right? Were there ever multiple Zions National Parks? And similarly was there ever a dude named Zion who owned or founded his personal Zion’s National Park?
Why is it so common to throw an s or ’s on the end of that word? Is this some attempt to disambiguate the National Park and the actual land where god’s people live? Zion is the promised land of plenty while Zions (or Zion’s) is the land of blood red rocks and whorish rivers that allow any tourist a visit while claiming to be a virgin.

An amusing - if slightly twisted - metaphor. I'll admit to loving every visit I've had with that tart.

I usually go to Arch National Park in Moabs, but I've been wanting to visit Bryce's Canyon this year too.

I heard Mark Koelbel on channel 2 news say, "Zion's" (referring to the park) last night. Asshat.

Perhaps not so egregious is referring to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park as the Smokies. Either way, happy 75th anniversary.

Would drive me crazy in MI when people would say Fords or Krogers as well!!! C'mon People!!
