    Time Lapse Photography

I know Dan made a time lapse of this drive to Alaska last year.. how did he do it? I have been messing round with QuicktimePro7 its really easy to create the lapse but it ends up being .mov and not a .gif.

Maybe I should be using some sort of video software .... Beech do you have any suggestions?

My input files will be jpg

That looks like a simple cross fade transition in a video editor.
Make each picture duration equal to the transition and it will
    appear to animate the picture.

The legnth of the transion/duration will dictate the tempo of the animation.

    Nicely done btw.

I think I got it figure out and am ready to use this same method for some high ISO star shots.

I took this from desk at work today.

That looks excellent! What did you end up using, if you don't mind saying?

This time lapse I did of assembling a trampoline was 1 photo every 10 seconds, then dropped them all into Pinnacle Studio. I batch cropped and resized the pics in Paint Shop Pro first, then did a couple of short fades in Studio. Very happy with how it turned out.

I got just over 40min worth of exposure in the Uintas this weekend before the clouds rolled in. I think I got the hang of this now.....

I made this a few years ago, my buddy and I building a fort for his kids.
This is one of those "designed in Hell" manufactured in "we no speak engrish" kits. All the labels fell of the wood and it took us four days just to sort out the parts to match the really bad instructions.

Edited together using Monkeyjam software, which is free.
Notice at one point his son approached the camera. What I liked about monkeyjam was that it was really easy to make him pause and linger in the video simply by making one frame repeat a lot more times than the others.
You can simply go to the frame and tell it to repeat n times.
Did the same thing at the end.

Took me maybe 20 minutes to edit this sequence.
His kids make me watch it everytime I visit.

Cool stuff! I need to try this on something. I actually have that same swing set and took photos along the way last summer.

I saw your buddy make several mistakes and using two people!

LoL nice one! OK here is a tank shooting a shotgun blast of tungsten balls. How they got a camera to track this is beyond my understanding.

    Summit thats pretty cool.

Did you just line up north on a compass as the center of the shot?

Planning to try some night work on thousand lake mt next week.
Any advice on manual settings for star shots?

Thinking if I hold the shutter open a bit longer the video will look more like the stars are streaking than moving individually.

Found some great looking time laps of stars here

Sad to say but I have never owned a compass, I just found it and lined it up.

These were all 20 second exposures f2.8 at ISO 1600 It was really bright out so a longer exposure time would of blown out. I prefer to the short, stacked, high ISO images over the longer exposures due to less noise and more stars.

Not really that stoked about the end results but I am excited that I have it figured out and I am looking forward to some cool trails in the desert this fall.

    Summit thank you.
It looks like I will have a new moon on the 20th so it should be plenty dark.

I should be able to get some sunrises over CR NP as well.
