Anyone do this traverse?

I've always thought it'd be cool to do a traverse and hit these 11 peaks over 11k (Sugarloaf, Baldy, Hidden, AF Twin, Red Baldy, White Baldy, Pfeifferhorn, Thunder Mountains and Lone Peak)

Done them all, some in combo but never the entire shabang in one shot.

Thunders and Lone Peak don't line up for a straight shot, combining them is difficult.

Beatout is a popular hardcore hike .... White Pine, Red Pine, P-Horn, Lightning Ridge, Chipman, South Thunder (sometimes North Thiunder) down Bells.

The part between Shgarloaf and American Fork Twins is known as the Bullion Divide and as Shane says Pfeifferhorn to Bells is known as the Beatout.

I've done both, but as Shane says it skips Lone. I've never traversed Lone to Thunder. I assume it's probably technical, but could be interesting.

If you want to do the Pfeifferhorn to Thunder section, it is best from May to mid-June, when the boulderfields are snow covered. It is more scenic then and much faster/easier, but take an ice axe and get an early start for the best snow.

Also, the Twin Peaks to Superior is another good one. It is quite a bit harder than the Bullion Divide or the Beatout.

Nearly the "supertour" too, or, kinda is methinks. Although I think folks start that at Baldy maybe and come out Bells? Or maybe even just White Pine trailhead down from Snowbird. I seem to dimly recall...

My wife and I did the beatout in 2006 and I just posted the TR to keep that to it's own post. It took us quite a while so I imagine the more technical LCC/BCC ridge would take even longer. http://www.bogley.com/forum/viewtopi...=173619#173619

I don't think this is too bad because it is the backside of the mountains. It is a pretty mellow slope to get over to Lone.

I haven't done the traverse, but I would have to disagree. The ridgeline between South Thunder and Lone is not a "mellow slope".

I guess I was wrong about it might being technical, but it's still Class 3-4:

Class 3-4 is considered easy by definition, but I still wouldn't connotate it with a mellow slope and it would be harder than anything on the Beatout, for example. The only side of Lone that might be called a mellow slope is the south face.

The above was taken when it was snow-covered, but even when not, it isn't that gentle.

There are class 3 and 4 routes up from Bells Canyon as well, but they still aren't mellow slopes, though they are fun to climb when the couloirs are filled with snow.

The original "Supertour" was indeed all the way from Baldy to Bells. The first time it was done in winter, it was done in a single day.

Yeah, I suppose 'mellow slope' isn't the right description. Sounds like it compares to Superior or Devils Castle. I didn't do it when we did the beatout but I know it is a diversion that some do without additional gear.
