    Boltergeist Canyon

On Friday, May 8th, instead of going to the movie theaters in Hurricane to see the new Star Trek movie, my little group preferred to descend Boltergeist. The outside temps were hot, in the high 80's. There was little water in the canyon. One ankle deep water one the next to the last rap.

Water on the first rap could be easily avoided.

Canyon is found on a side road past the ranch.

    Very nice!

Question: Did you place the purple sling or was it already there?

That purple webbing was there 3or4 weeks ago when Samantha (my daughter)Eddie and myself went there

It seems to me that this would be a good place to extend the webbing so that the rap ring would be over the edge, thus leaving less rope groove marks. Correct?

Yes. It looks like a classic "What's wrong with this anchor?" quiz.

    1. Webbing extended over the edge would yield less rope grooves.

    2. ???

    3. ???

    Any players??? Tom

    2. The webbing should be pulled down to create a double webbing through the ring - not making a triangle.

    3. Color of webbing - should be a neutral/earth tone color.

The webbing was already there at all of the drops. We used the existing webbing.

To add to your list, whenever I place webbing, I leave enough tail on the waterknot to allow for backup knots on each of the tails.
