    Not so rustic vacation ideas?

My cousin wants to go stay in a cabin in the woods somewhere with her family, this is the way she phrased it: "I want something that seems like it is in the middle of nowhere with a lovely diner down the street". I'm drawing a blank on this. I know places with cabins, but no diner, and places with diners, but no cabins. So, if you have a recommendation, let me know!

We've stayed here in a cabin and the main house. The place is first class.

You're only a couple of miles from Tropic with acceptable food.

    Zion Ponderosa

    fish lake and panguitch lake.

I think fish lake does a dinner at the lodge... not sure. haven't been up that way in 4 years... last i heard they were remodeling the lodge.

panguitch has cabins. and on the south end of the lake there is a nice restaurant.

i dont know if that would fall under "middle of nowhere" but for me it seams like a differant world. everything is simple and slow moving.

I don't think cabins in fish lake or panguitch are worth it... just pitch a tent and start a fire.

I just came back from Pondorosa last weekend, see my write up:

I also really enjoyed Colter Bay up in Wyoming (Grand Tetons). That place totally rocked. Cabins in a wooded forest, a restaurant within a walking distance, a buffet type cafe, a small grocery store, a marina with rentals and it's all part of a National Park, so you get ranger guided excursions.

My parents make a semi-annual trip to stay here http://www.slotcanyonsinn.com/cabin.html, and love it. Remote-ish and beautiful, yet only 5 miles from Escalante.

I am a fairly big fan of the Island Park area.....both Summer and Winter....

We have rented here a few times..... The surrounding cabins are close, I am not sure you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere.....meaning, you know you have neighbors.....

Have been seriously considering this place....but have yet to do it. Summer would be nice, put the boat in the slip for a week.....wakeboarding and surfing during the day, campfire and drinks at night....

There are quite a few cabins in the area.....

    Many restaurants as well.....

Anyway.....that is a start..... I could go on and on with areas with cabins....and places to eat.....

Thanks for the great ideas. I'm forwarding these to my cousin--I'm sure that at least one of them will work for them.
