Canyoneering Shoes

Anyone know a good retailer I can pick some canyoneering shoes up at? I had La Sportiva Exum Rivers... was moderately pleased with them, but they wore out much quicker than I felt like they should. There is something messed up in the heel, and I am getting huge sores everytime I wear them, so I tossed them. I am planning on heading out again the weekend after next, and need to pick up some shoes before then, so I'd prefer to not order online.

I have heard good things about 5.10 Savants, but I am open to suggestions if anyone is passionate about any other shoes. Something with sticky rubber and drains well.

Any suggestions?

I've been having great success with these, you can attack a canyon like a gladiator and they drain well. Adjustable support from ankle to knee.
Women dig em too.

i have the savants. they are stickier for me than the canyoneers, and they wear like a sneaker, instead of some weird boot. i got mine at ZAC though, not sure where you can find 'em locally.

I still consider it one of the best canyoneering shoes.

Don't so what I did. I spent years using approach shoes and other climbing type shoes. Then I was finally convinced to get the Canyoneer II. Night and Day. It's like the first time you find asian porn. You don't know what you're missing till you actually try the good stuff.

should be noted, the savants are the exact same sole as the canyoneerII's, but they don't have the goofy upper... just saying.

Nothing particular against the Canyoneer. Just heard the Savants are cheaper and lighter, maybe a little more comfortable.

My biggest question, is where, if anywhere, in the SLC/UT county area can I go pick some up without having to wait on shipping?

mountain works in Provo may have them. they have a little section for canyoneering stuff. they are in the same building as the Quarry climbing gym.

I have an old pair of first gen Canyoneers that I would give you for a song. Still in good condition, just bought the wrong size and I lost toe nails EVERY time I wore them.

I had to order my wifes Canyoneer II's from mountain works because she has small feet. They gave me 10 or 20% off for paying when I ordered. I can't remember exactly but I think it was 20.

Hey, another big foot. I actually bought both a pair of 13's and 14's depending on the thickness of the sock or neo I was using. However, I got them at ZAC. Mountain Works has good folks to deal with. Ask for Darren or Christian.

You might check canyon sports in slc. They carry them in ogden.

It's not coming til 2011 but La Sportiva is currently redesigning the Exum River shoes which is why they discontinued them.

IME in SLC right next to REI sales both LaSportiva and 5.10.

And the BD Store is just a mile away and might have them if IME does not. The two store cooperate, so if you swing and miss at IME, just have them call over to the BD store to see what they have.
