A Falcon Guide: Canyoneering (book)
I just bought this book - I guess its farily new (2008) and its a book by the the Falcon Guide (book) series. Its 150pages plus, and its a great book to recommend to first time Canyoneers and intermediate climbers too. Its all in color and goes over a lot of techniques covering the Basics such as: gear, clothing, wetsuits/drysuits/climbing technique, knot basics, and anchor building. It also goes in details about belaying for a few pages and the correct styles. Also discusses proper rope usage, single vs. double strand, anchors, blocks, rappel anchors, physics of rappeling, etc.
Also it has about 20pages on achors and anchor systems and building them too. Mentins ascending, multi-pitch rappels, and crossing a exposed traverse. Has a few pages dealing with potholes, wet canyons, and canyon rescue.
Overall its a good book that gives you a lot more insight into the world of canyoneering, for those interested, and expands your knowledge of the gear and essentials that the sport requires.
Also it mentioned the websites of Shane and Tom Jones.
"Climb-Utah.com - The 'Circle of Friends' is a subscription database with a lot of detailed information on specific canyons. Worth the investment."
"Canyoneeringusa.com - An exceelent site run by Tom Jones, ower of Imlay Gear Inc. This was the original source of detialed canyon information on the Internet. It still has the best descriptions of the limited number of canyons its provides beta for."
Those gave ma a chuckle when I read it. hehe

Paperback

Dave might be most famous for writing the Dog in Heaps story.
