St. George (area) Trip, Feb 27 - March 1

I've got some friends going down to St. George to do some riding in a couple weeks. No set trail schedule, but options include Gooseberry, JEM, Bearclaw, Little Creek, Slickrock Fireswamp, etc....

We'll probably camp out by Gooseberry or at Mosquito Cove. I think some people are coming down to climb and hike too. Let me know if you're interested and we can arrange meeting times/places.

    All of this, weather permitting.

Sounds like a riot, wish I could make it.

If you camp at Mosquito Cove, I'm assuming you'll be driving to Gooseberry from that direction?

I'd suggest coming into Gooseberry from the East. It's a straight and generally smoother road.

Two wheels are better than four, keep the rubber side down.

Some info for it on this page under the free camping section, but I thought I saw something in the St. George paper about it closing? Bo would probably know for sure.

Well, if it did close I would be sad for the loss. It's been a great camping spot and I'm surprised it's stayed open this long. It's too bad that the low-lifes found it. I don't want this to turn into a trashy people thread, but I won't stay there over a holiday or a weekend anymore. Just too many ingorant, obnoxious, low-class rednecks (with a few of the same class of Mexicans in the mix). An encounter at Mosquito Cove turned me in a cop-calling a-hole. Some folks were up 'till about 3:00 being far too drunk and far too loud so I walked over to let them know it was time to go to bed. After being told to do things to myself that are annotomically impossible I said that if it wasn't time to go to bed maye it was time to call the cops. Things quieted down, but now I just call the cops and let my tax dollars be the jerk on my behalf. It's sad that folks can't just be respectful. [/soapbox]

Looks like it'll be camping at Gooseberry then, maybe at the windmill.

Beech, I've been both ways. I agree that coming from the Apple Valley side is way better. It's a bummer that the Falcon Press book suggests coming from the Rockville side. Either one is okay if you have a pickup truck.

Hey moabfool, Mark (glasscutter) will be down there this weekend for Nascar, but he'd like to hook up if you're riding.

I PM'd you his phone number.

Got it. We'll probably ride Stucki Springs tomorrow, but we might to Little Creek. Gooseberry will be Saturday.
