Behunin Canyon permits?

Did the park service reduce the amount of permits in Behunin from 14 to 6? Its what the permit website shows?

The daily quota WAS 12. It is currently 12. Only half of these can be reserved in advance - thus the reservation system shows only 6 available.

Maximum party size is 6.

Thats what I thought but it shows 14 each day in February?

During certain times of the year Zion allows more people down some of the slots. I *think* it is 20 per day, 14 can be reserved in advanced. I think it has something to do with nesting season for owls, but I don't know for certain.

Looks like they moved Behunin up to 14, from 12.

The limit on Behunin changes depending on the month. It is 20 per day, 14 reservable 6 walk-up in the fall/winter and 12 per day 6&6 in the summer. I think it is lower from march to sept but I may be off a bit on the dates. The group size limit is the same all year though (6). It changed Jan 2008 with the new management plan.
