    Seldom visited: Adobe Mesa

Years ago we had a phantastic view from the rim of Dome Plateau across Professor Valley and Richardson Amphitheatre. How abot trying to have a similar look into the opposite direction?

We gave it a try. Made a quite rough trip onto the top of Adobe Mesa and got the view we expected. Some pictures:

A stony road leads from the Gateway Road onto the mesas top. This is by far not the roughest spot.

    Tougher road ahead

    First glimpse to the Northeast

    The road disappears. Walk!

You are rewarded with this view

Upper Castle Valley and LaSal Mountains

Adobe Mesa seen from Castle Valley. The sharp pointed part on the right is the point we visited.

    The whole story is here!

I tried that route over the summer.....it was badly washed out. So much so that I was not comfortable continuing on by myself. I was hoping to get a small group together to try it again this year.

Where was the route washed out? Within the fist descend or farther north on top of Adobe Mesa?

Yes, this was one of the harder parts. Going down is not that bad, coming up somewhat trickier.
