I had been corresponding with my good friend Perry over the last few months about a trip to the Swell. Despite living in Denver, Perry still seems to make a couple of annual trips out to visit the San Rafael Swell area, often in search of the past haunts of western Outlaws like Butch Cassidy and Matt Warner. VERY nice writeup, I really enjoyed reading it and checking out the photos. I've been to nearly all those places at one time or another, but doing them all in just a few days is an epic trip.

Some of my more recent Swell trip reports (in the works) will detail more on this, but the MK Tunnels were heinously graffitied this past year. Some pretty graphic and racist comments, all over the place. Not the usual tagging inside of the tunnel, I'm talking all over the face of the canyon, giant genitalia, you name it. Pretty sad but I'm sure it stems from its use as a party site for the nearby locals for years and years. We contacted the BLM about cleaning it up, they are in a holding pattern until its decided what will happen when the tunnels are "reclaimed" in the coming years.
