    Colorful country

Some pictures of a trip onto Ticaboo Mesa:

Ticaboo is a small community north of Bullfrog/Lake Powell. East of Ticoboo one can travel some quite easy but sometimes rocky trails leading to view points to Ticaboo Canyon, Lake Powell and the Little Rockies (southern parts of the Henry Mountains).

Starting point from UT 276 is at appr. 12S 0529040, 4172080.

Very good pics there, I would love to take a cruise down there sometime!!

Two wheels are better than four, keep the rubber side down.

wow. The pictures are making me home sick. Although I don't live in southern Utah I wish I did. Thanks for the pics.
    The man thong is wrong.

Are these photos recent? Just curious as there seems to be no snow on the ground. When I went through page two weeks ago there was about 3 inches on the ground.

Don't talk unless you can improve the silence.
The trout do not rise in the cemetery, so you better do your fishing while you are still alive. SGH

I have several of those same photos. Nice pictures!

Much has changed in Ticaboo in the last two years. The Uranium mines (and miners) have increased greatly and the noise from the ventilation fans is quite loud in several areas now.

I also understand that the mining operation has purchased Ticaboo, the restaurant and surrounding land and won't be accessible much longer.

    Thanks for the positive comments!

The pictures were taken mid of September in 2007. No snow!

A recommendation only: Going to Ticaboo Mesa is best as late as feasible in the afternoon on a clear day. Two hours before sunset the counrty seem start glowing. Even if some stretches of the trails were a bit annoying - its a wonderful place.

Next time we try to hike down at the Shelf Spring into Ticaboo Canyon.
