Sea kayaking from Punta Final to Bahia de Los Angeles

    Hi everyone,

Here's another Baja paddling video. In this clip Brian and I paddle our sea kayaks from Punta Final to Bahia de los Angeles - a paddle of over 80 miles. Our friend Rick dropped us off at Punta Final in Bahia San Luis Gonzaga and then drove the truck back to Tucson (after leaving my car at Campo Archelon in BLA).

At one point during the paddle Brian and I were pinned down on shore by a heavy north wind for nearly four days (as seen in another shorter Youtube video). Never at a loss to keep ourselves entertained we explored the local desert and beach, finding a whale skeleton and seeing very skinny bobcats and coyotes among other desert offerings ...

Wow, that was a cool video log. I didn't think you'd be so isolated on those beaches. And that whale skeleton was very cool too.

How far offshore would you stay as you paddled?

What a journey! I'm very impressed. I got a little panicked for you guys getting beach bound for those few days. So glad you guys were able to proceed and make it safely to your destination. Great video and TR!

Thanks for the replies! It's fun to relive these trips from the comfort of home and to be able to share them here too ...

Sombeech, as far as paddling we generally stay within a couple hundred yards from shore or even within a few feet depending on the landscape, wildlife and sea state. The Baja shore line offers so much - bobcats, coyotes, sea lions, sea turtles, sea birds, lizards, snakes, sea caves ... At times though we might be a mile or two offshore if we cut across a bay if the conditions allow us to feel safe or, even 5 or miles off shore during a crossing like the Colorado River Delta trip...

Here are our map tracks of this trip:

Cold beer, good food, ocean view...

    Happy adventures!
