WASHINGTON - People will now be able to carry concealed firearms in some national parks and wildlife refuges.

An Interior Department rule issued Friday allows an individual to carry a loaded weapon in a park or wildlife refuge

also, i did not know there was a prohibition on firearms in wildlife refuges in the first place. i have done some great hunting in wildlife refuges.

really, this is ridiculous. the people who the article is refering too as being able to carry in a park are already licensed to concealed carry. which means they have gone through a thorough background check (not convicted felons), fingerprinted, and state required training. i don't see them as much of a threat or any risk.

if someone wanted to blast one of jellystones bears i doubt they would used a licensed concealed carry handgun. it would most likely be unlicensed joe redneck and a sixpack plinking and hitting one by accident or not. and his actions would be as illegal now as they were before.

I don't know, but around here in areas close to roads lots of people target shoot and leave shells, shot up plates, clay objects etc. Maybe that's what they could be talking about, but I don't think anyone would do that kind of thing in a national park.
