    Who has a Wii?

I'm debating getting a Wii for the family. I got out of gaming about a year after the original Halo came out on my XBox. I'm looking more for something that my young children can enjoy and help build some eye/hand coordination as well.

I was watching the Wii Music and thought my kids (2 and 4) could do that. Will all the buttons on the Xbox and PS3, I thought this would be the route to go.

For family time and fun go WII. For me it was a pretty neat first experience, but then got old pretty fast. I havent even played with it for a month or so. The games that come with the box are awesome, but I haven't played ANY other ones that are decent. In fact i would label them sub par. If you're a fan of the mario series, my bro is addicted to the mario world game that came out a while ago though.

For serious games, superior graphics, and blue ray capabilities go PS3. My kid loves watching me play little big planet, but he's only 2, so your mileage may vary. Heres a vid, I defy anyone not to fall intantly in love wit these lil cute guys. But in my mind PS3 has more bang for the buck. And come on, final fantasy 13, nuff said.

I agree with most of that. Wii is super amazing and awesome... for a few weeks. it is definitely a hit for kids/and or getting your wife/girlfriend to like gaming a little more.

Although when i have time for any gaming, i am almost exclusively playing my xbox- there are some good games i enjoy for the wii. Mario Kart and Excite truck are totally kid friendly and a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the zelda game for wii, and i thought resident evil was cool as well, although obviously not something for kids. All in all though- i'd say the wii is worth it and can be quite entertaining

I have both Wii and PS3. I also have a 5.5 year old boy. He learned how to kick my ars in Wii Tennis and also he is awesome at Lego games (Starwars and Batman on PS3). His choice is definitely PS3.

Wii was unique and cool for the first couple of month. But now it's pretty much collecting dust. The same experience has been with 2 of my friends who are on Xbox/PS3 now.

I originally bought Wii for my kid/family to play and then got PS3 for myself to do video streaming, family pictures/albums, awesome blueray player and eventually games. Now, my kid and I play our PS3 almost every day together. Wife streams music through it and we watch our Scrubs and Lost on it nightly. And sometimes I rent Blueray discs.

If you had to pick one console to recommend, my recommendation would be PS3. Xbox has more game selection, Wii has the unique controls, but PS3 has a Blueray and soon to be released motion sensing controller.

You can also get a webcam for the PS3, a fun little gadget for kids to play with and talk to their friends on.

The kid friendly games I'd recommend are: Lego Batman and Starwars

    I'd rather be outside.

That said, we've got a Wii (a gift from a friend - I'm not about to blow that kind of money on a video game console) and the kids (9 and 11) love it. I'm just as happy not to have them Haloing for now, thanks. Lego Star Wars, Lego Indy, some kinda Mario thing, Zelda, etc....

But video games in general? Je ne get it pas.

    love you too buddy.
For the fam, I'd go for the Wii. The wife and I just picked up Mario Kart for the Wii. Pretty fun. We play with my brother and his kids in WV online, With No Fees!
Other games I'd play on the is the Raymond Raving Rabbids, Wii Sports, any family game really. My wife loves the zelda games. You can also purchase just about any original nintendo game and play it on the wii (downloads). I've played a few of my GC games on it. I still love playing NHL Hitz. It's funny to me.

Excellent insight - thank you all who contributed. I'm not laying down any coin for mine, that's what credit card points are for. I am interested in the MarioKart steering wheels though, that looks like fun to me.

I'm really hoping that the kids will enjoy the Wii.

Amen brother! The only reason I do play PS3 is due to my kid. Anything else it's on my PC

We had a wii, but had to confiscate it due to some problems. Be sure to monitor the internet activities. Young ones can access everything on the internet without a filter.

As soon as they figure out how to make that wireless interactive wii device into something porn compatible I will be first in line.

I say get the kids outside and forget the video gaming.............our kids are droids enough without them.
