    Rental Insurance Waiver

Hey guys. I was wondering if any of you happen to know if my landlord can charge me $100 for a rental insurance waiver. I got a letter stating that I have to get rental insurance or I can sign a waiver for a charge of $100. In other words, I am paying $100 to say that I will be responsible for any damage to my apt. WTF?

I don't know if he can or not, but most renters policies aren't much more than $100 a year anyway. You should get one just to protect your personal property wherever it is, be it in your car, storage unit, moms, etc...
i.e. if you car gets broken into and you golf clubs get stolen, it's your renters policy that would cover that, not your car insurance.

I understand completely. I just find it ridiculous that I have to pay them $100 for my decision decision not to protect myself

I hear more and more clients saying that their landlords are requiring them to have renters insurance. This is the first I have heard of a waiver.
