Headless Hen Tuesday, October 14 2008

Having capped the morning in Raven we continued our Escalante Coyote Gulch trip with an afternoon scratch thru Headless Hen. HH is full of pot holes - Wyoming Dave estimated there are at least 47 throughout, most had water, some with an easy hop over, some with serious drops and some that are deep linked keepers. Even in low water, wetsuits are highly advised. The difference in temps between the lip and the drink were substantial. Ram kept the group moving with some serious sandbag maneuvers. This canyon can be done entirely with retrievable anchors, ingenuity and group teamwork. A tippy top full HH would be a blast to swim thru

47 potholes???? That's nuts. Must do it! Again, thanks for posting. And the great shots. Loved the one pothole with the emerald green water.

I love that canyon! It's so much fun having to use the sandbags to get in AND out of the holes, one after the other! Thanks for the pix!
