If, by the time I wake up, there isn't a winner, I will post a bigger hint.

    Common, folks, at least guess!

    Is it a trap?
How can you have your non-dairy pudding substitute if you don't eat your wok-braised tofu?

Is it used for moving multiple bales of hay at once?

I have no clue. It looks like some sort of spreader, like a rib spreader or something you would stick in a bale of hay, spread it and lift.

It appears as if it pivots near the bottom. The two round balls on top may be handles of some kind? Or something that could prevent a rope from slipping off if tied to that part of the device.

Is it something to hand up a dead game animal for drying/skinning/gutting?

Here is the same thing, but a different design.

WTF is it for? i.e. how does it work?

You put it in the calf's nostrils, spikes outward, so when it goes to get some milk from mom the spikes jab mom's titts, and since mom don't like getting poked in the titt she will not let the calf have any food, so it will be weaned from her.

That's barbaric! Let the little cow have some milk for Pete's sake!
