YouTube: Race to the flag at the Tintic Mountain High Point

The day after placing a 5x7' flag at the peak of the Tintic Mountains, I drove (at high speed via ATV) back to take it down.

This is ~35 miles (one way) to the location to recover the flag, pole, cement, etc..

I had to truncate quite a bit of video down to this 7.27 minute clip.

I'm not artistic and I've only uploaded one other video to YouTube.

Ride along with me on my high speed trip via Kawasaki 750i ATV from 5Mile pass to almost Eureka.

Yep! Something about living in Germany for ~16 years.. Appreciation for RAMMSTEIN and SCORPIONS!

I was there for a "Monsters of Rock Concert". In attendance were: Iron Maiden, Van Halen, Scorpions, Judas Priest, Def Lepard, AC/DC and Motorhead!

    ROCK ON!

Great music selection. Wise decision to go back for the colors. The pole would not hold.

I am curious why you put it up, to take it back down a day later?

I was concerned my PVC pole would not last and that it may snap. I'll probably place another pole (aluminum) at a later date.

Liked the video so I linked it to my Boulter Peak webpage at http://www.willhiteweb.com/index_320.htm

The summit is called Boulter Peak by the peakbagging community and people come from far distances to summit it. I thought the flag thing was really cool.

I was a bit confused at first because the East Tintic Mountains has an actual Tintic Mountain south of Eureka. You could get your ATV near the top of that one too but 400 feet of climbing would be needed at the end. Page at http://www.willhiteweb.com/index_336.htm

It's the same peak. My clutch belt (CVT) was showing a problem, so I parked at the base (where I normally could have ridden straight up) and hiked to the top.
