While clean up, just burn it to the ground and start over again.

I have seen worst....the guy was afraid to go outside and tried to clean by starting a fire in the living room to burn the garbage. Did not go well with the neighbours.

Man, I can understand being lazy, but at what point does the stench become too much to bear...?

At what point does the bugs crawling under all of that become a factor! That makes me sick to think what that person is breeding in their pig stye, the next pandemic! That is sick and wrong.

I like the fact that the letters on the keyboard were "clean" from use.

Oh please! I've been in at least three places as bad or worse than that. One in West Valley and the other two were in Layton. I dodged a bullet in The Bronx on going to a fourth.
The one in The Bronx was a close-call. "Hi, we're missionaries...." I've never been so glad to get turned away in my life. I was sweating really bad as the lady thought about it. I was thinking "Please don't let us in, please don't let us in." Ah, the smell of dog feces.
The first one in Layton was a house where the lady wouldn't let the dogs go outside to do their business. There were several inches of decomposing dog pooh all over the floor. The dogs had chewed through the garage door so they could get out. I can only imagine the work the people who bought the place had to go through.
The other one in Layton I stuck to the floor. What did I stick to. Smashed up dog feces (this is inside folks) with matted fur. This is the house of a "slower" lady that my parents have taken under their wing. My poor dad was inside helping get her swamp cooler ready for summer when I showed up. I was outside on the roof and I couldn't stand to be downwind of the cooler becasue of the the stench. I went inside to say hello to the lady and had to leave after only a few seconds.
The one in West Valley is a Roomate From Hell story. I made a huge mistake and let this creepy guy move in with us. His stuff smelled like dog food, he was missing half his teeth becasue he had been addicted to meth, and he walked with a limp from "football injuries." His most annoying attribute was that he knew exactly how to run everybody's life but his own, he had to be involved in every aspect of everybody's life, and he would freak out over nothing. His dog chewed up the remote control, and he couldn't or wouldn't hold a job. I took him around to look at other places because I'm a "nice guy" (wanted to get rid of him).
We went to several places before we came across a slum lord that was renting rooms for $250/month. The house was full of broken down appliances (literally full), the roof was leaking, and there were pans under the leaks. There were three or four free-range dogs in the yard, but they were pretty chill. I almost took one of the dogs after he asked if I wanted it. It was seriously one of the coolest dogs I've ever met. I just wonder if it could've handled my level of discipline.
One "room" was an 18' travel trailer in the back yard with an extention cord running from the house to the trailer through the snow. Another "room" was a lean-to off of the garage with several layers of carpet on the walls for insulation. I'm 6'1" and I couldn't stand up straight. Just walking into the garage hurt my lungs. Dog and cat feces had decomposed and started turning into amonia. There wasn't even a clear path to the door. Total fire hazard.
Here's the kicker, the slum lord pulled me aside while Roommate From Hell was filling out an application.
"So, you're trying to get rid of this guy then?"
"Yah, how did you know?" He's the only prespective sucker, I mean land-lord, that caught on to my ploy.
"Oh, he has a reputation. You'd better keep looking. I won't rent to him."
Moral of the story: don't rent to anyone that's involved in an "emergency move," especially if their name is Paul, they have a service animal (dog) named "Joy," and they're on Medicaide to fix the problems they're having with their ankles.
Sorry, no pictures, but if I could download my memory you'd see that this place has competition, lots of it.Remember kids, don't try this at home. Try it at someone else's home.
