Poncho House Ruin
Has anyone visted Poncho House in southeast Utah? I was wondering about a time estimate for a round trip hike from carpark, to alcove, back to car park.
I will be down that way in early October and may take in the adventure....Only Dead Fish Go With The Flow

last i knew when i lived a bluff (which has been a few years) the navajo nation no longer tolerated the trespassing and pancho house was off limits unless you had a navajo guide w/ you. i believe that land is owned by some individual, but can't remember for sure. if it is you would likely need their specific stamp of approval and escort to access their private property. 16 house ruin across the swinging bridge is very nice. it is also on navajo nation but i guess not on private land. you just have to road walk once across swinging bridge to avoid trespassing on the private property surrounding it, otherwise the navajo nation is tolerant of visitation there. river house is on the north bank of the san juan and is not navajo nation. it is really nice too. butler wash on the north side of the san juan has a really nice panel 100' long or so at its confluence w/ the san juan, plus some way cool pets/pics/ruins further up canyon. cottonwood wash has some cool stuff. it is private property but in speaking w/ the owner (3 years ago or so) he was tolerant of visitation so long as no pilfering or vandalizing takes place.
maybe somne of the locals wil chime in w/ more current info for you.signature

I know the swinging bridge that you mentioned is gone (washed away a couple years ago). As for Poncho House, I'll ask around and see what I can come up with. I've been wanted to visit it myself. I'll let you know if I come up with anything.
But even if you can't make it to Poncho there is plenty of other stuff worth seeing. The gostak distims the doshes.
