Good day!

Yant flat is located between St. George, UT and Leeds along the FSR
that hugs the foothills of Pine Mtn. This amazing overlook into the Washington bowl atop the sandstone is well worth the trip.
There is lots of dangerous exposure to make it exciting and keeping children close by. But, to have these commanding views in this sandy perch makes for a perfect hike! The access is through Leeds Utah and taking the road toward Oak Grove Campground. At the Oak Grove split, continue on the left fork for about 5 miles, passing through the private property of the Danish Ranch, to FSR # 903. gps:
N 37 14.089 & W 113 28.628 elevation 4569 ft.
at this intersection with the main FSR and 903, you want to head south;
away from looming Pine Mtn.
Drive, or if you want a gentle winding road and not worry about tearing up your paint job on your vehicle, Or take an atv...
only 1 mile up to the end of 903 and the beginning of the overlook area.
elevation gain is a gentle 100 ft. Great for kids in cool weather.
Beware of the FSR in winter. Pine Mtn can change and snow in an instant.
Once up there, feel free to spend at least an hour scrambliing up, down, and all through the huge gumdrops that push against the cliff band.
The views into Zion, the orange cliffs and sand of Warner valley and Sand Hollow, Hurricane, St. George, Washington, and views south into the Arizona Strip; Views of 10,000 ft Pine mtn to the north is always present and a real treat in winter when you are walking in warm sand and the mountain is covered in white.
Google earth the area and you will see some cool things. Lava flow, slickrock, and huge deep drainages like cottonwood canyon.
Hope you like the pictures. Cheers! jerry"Just waiting for a sip of that sweet Mojave rain"

Good pix. That area doesn't seem to get much publicity (a good thing), but I'll bet the locals enjoy it.
