Ah, the ubiquitous Robinson R44. Nice little machines - Frank Robinson done good. I know a couple of guys with those around here. A decent helicopter to both train in, then use as a family aircraft.

IMHO, the Robinsons might be the ugliest aircraft in the skies today.

Well, you did say "aircraft", rather than helicopter...

Even among those aircraft that beat the air into submission (as opposed to "flying"), I think the Robinson isn't bad looking. (Ever seen a Brantly?) And the R44 is definitely much more proportional & attractive (IMHO) than the R22.

That's a Eurocopter A-Star AS350 - not sure of the exact variant. They vary based on the powerplant & equipment. Nice helicopters.

I live near Sikorsky Aircraft, we'll see what I can do come this Fall.

You see fugly, I see beautiful. The KMAX can lift 12,000 lbs. and from what I've heard, that's limited by the hook! Imagine four 100ish lb. blades supporting 6 tons! I hope I can get into one some day.

Yeah, the R44 is tremendously under-rated; in my opinion. Were it not for the lack of cargo room, I'd rather fly one than a Bell 206 BIII. I currently fly a Bell 206 LIII and it seems to be just a tad faster that the R44 Raven II that I used to fly here in Utah.
