Housy Again
Well, I've been fishing the Housatonic quite a bit this year and it has been a lousy year. I'm chalking it up to the above average rainfall this year. The water has been higher and been quite cloudy due to the sediment runoff into the river.
It hasn't rained in about five days and it took the river about that long to get back down to normal flow and pretty much has cleared up for the time being. So, I jumped in with a few friends and we had a pretty decent day of fishing. Here are a few Smallmouths that I caught. Nothing big and not as numerous as years past...freaking rain

Man that river is HUGE. We don't see much of that here.
Thanks for the report. Glad it's starting to pick up on an off year.Lost On A Hill

I'll try to get in a little more in that river, I all but just about given up on it. I have another area I'm looking into again, need to give it a try. I always go for the Smallies, but every once in awhile I'll try some trout. As you can see by the bait, I like the Smallies...But every once in awhile a trout whacks the Mini-Whacker
Here's a Brown from last year, same area of the river.

Well that's healthy looking. Nice. What's the elevation out there?

OK, the Housy dumps out to Long Island Sound by my house, so that's sea level
Up at the Massachusetts/Connecticut line it's about 650ft above it and where the Housatonic starts in Massachusetts it's about 972ft. I'm fishing not that far from the Massachusetts line. Within 20 miles.
