Boulder Canyon vs Stough Creek Basin
Newbie here....
My friends and I are heading up to the Wind Rivers over Labor Day weekend. I have been going to the Winds for roughly 15 years mostly through the Boulder entrance. I enjoy setting up base camp at Vera and fishing a lot of the surrounding lakes even up into Victor and Europe Canyon. Lately, I have noticed the trail is getting progressively worse and currently considering a different entrance. I have seen some good reports on Stough Creek. However, I have never been there and Lander is a little further from SLC. We are mostly interested in catching a lot of good sized fish. Does anyone have an opinion on one of these entrances over the other? If not, what do you suggest or where is your favorite place to go in the Wind Rivers?

Welcome to the forum, mickj. A few of us have always enjoyed going up near Junction Lake, starting near Pinedale.

I read your trip report earlier. That is one reason I am thinking about going somewhere else. I would love to catch some of those Macks. Now if you would just tell me where these secret lakes are....
