    Canyoneering DVDs recommendations?

So....I just bought a 52" LCD 1080p Sony TV and I have my Blu-Ray DVD player and was hoping any of you have good nature recommendations...especially Canyoneering or white water rafting through Cataract Canyon....the ones you would see playing on the TVs at Best Buy or wherever. Ergo - a planet Earth DVD, but specifically, Zion or Colorado Plateau, etc.

A SUU professor made a canyoneering documentary, "Canyoneering the Colorado Plateau", that is available in DVD now, sorry not in HD. I've seen it. I believe North Wash Outfitters sells it, I don't know who else does.

the canyoneering documentary is good, but it's a documentary.

not sure there is much in the way of the canyoneering equivalent to backcountry skiing films/DVDs in regards to the colorado plateau.

(note: i believe joe bugden and robb cobb do make DVDs of their canyoning videos around the world (they have many videos online, mostly non-colorado plateau, but great stuff). some members of this forum also make good (non-HD) videos: eric godfrey (shaggy) has made a number of colorado plateau videos which he's posted on the internet. jared hillhouse (canyonbug) has also.)

the IMAX film Zion Canyon: Treasure of the Gods would be a descent option. I don't think it's available in blue ray but it has some good scenic footage of the area as well as some Zion canyons, they reenact an early canyon descent without modern gear . If I remember it correctly, it also has a lot of footage from other areas of the Colorado Plateau, not just Zion.

I've seen it broadcasted on one of my HD channels on comcast (MOJO, I think), so you might want to keep an eye out for it on TV.

It's pretty hokey, but, fun especially if you kinda know some of the folks in it. The climbers (Doug and Nancy) actually do an artificial route outside Deadhorse Point, complete with plastic holds bolted onto the rock. Dennis Turville is the old time photographer, and, Merrill Bitter is his guide. Hilarious! The actually filmed the flash flood scenes in a completely fake made up canyon in a movie set out by Virgin, so I've heard. Looks fairly realistic.
