    Cable Canyon 7 June 08

Since the weather forcast for San Rafael Swell said it would be in the 70s on Saturday we decided to head there. Thanks to all of you for your advice on my previous thread. The canyon was great. We headed down the South fork. After the first big drop which you bypass on the left there were several wading pools but not over chest deep and most could be stemmed. After the confluence water became more scarce and the potholes were dry through the tehnical sections. The rappels were really asthetic especially the big drop in the last technical section, that was really a beutiful stretch of canyon. Since some in the group were less experienced climbers we decided to rappel a couple of the downclimbs. The weather was perfect it was partly cloudy all day so that kept it cool. But I must admit the hike back to the car was, as I was told, extermely long especially since the wind was blowing really hard. All in all it was a great trip and I think that I created a couple more potiential canyoneers in my friends who came along. Here are some pics.

As much as I like your pictures you should probably resize them down a bit. Or maybe I'm the only one here too lazy to read a trip report if I have to scroll back and forth while reading.
    Looks fun though!

Great Pix! A tad big, but I can forgive that.

Thanks for sharing - Cable is a favorite of mine.

Sweet. Good at ya. Me, I like the bigger photos.

Nice to see at least the smart people in the group wearing helmets.

You mentioned the hike back to the car being a slog, which I assume
means you did the route from the top down??? I prefer to access from
Factory Butte and do the route from the bottom up. That way all the hard
slogging is done in the cool early morning. You can also easily cherry pick
the best part of the canyon for a shorter day if you access from the bottom

Anyhoo.... thanks for the TR. I prefer smaller pics so I don't have to
scroll.... but whatever floats your boat.

    Hmmm... same here...

Maybe because I have old man eyes and have my fonts enlarged?

You really don't have to scroll at all? I can see the total picture, but if I want to get the EDIT or QUOTE buttons on the right I have to scroll a little....

I have to scroll to see the gray space between the "quote" button and the far right of the page. On my own posts it is the space between the "edit" button and the far right. Other than that I can see everything. I have a widescreen, does it make a difference?
