    Noob - Newb - Neube

I just moved to Washington and live very close to lots and lots of still water. I have the Puget sound 4 miles away and a fresh water lake less than a quarter mile from my house.

I was thinking of getting into kayaking of some sort. But, alas, I'm new and don't know anyone around to help me get started.

I'm throwing a rope to see if I can get some help on how to get started. What kind of equipment would suit me best? I'm looking for safety (since I'll be going alone) and manueverability but am really looking for a good way to get some alone time on the water and some added exercise can't hurt.

    Any takers?

I assume you mean a sea kayak right?

There aren't very many of us here who post about kayaking. I will find some good sites for you tomorrow where people can help you more with equipment.

I'm partial to my old Hobie Mirage Tandem. Though I recently bumped into a guy with a Hobie Mirage Adventure Island and now I must have one of those.
