TR: South Fork of Gordon Creek (Carbon County)
The family and I went out for an ATV ride today, checked out the railroad trestle over Gordon Creek, the nearby petroglyphs, several waterfalls, and an old cabin. We spent more than six hours and only rode 15 miles, and it was a blast! I'll let the video and pictures do the talking. There are a lot more pictures here.
Our parking spot near the Wildcat loadout, just off Consumers Road.
The beginning of the ATV trail. You could drive a full-sized 4x4 to this point, but no farther.
The ATV trail.
The south end of the railroad trestle.
Two intersecting fossilized worm burrows.
Petroglyphs just west of the railroad trestle.
The lower falls.
The lower falls.
An old cistern (perhaps?).
We ate lunch here near the upper falls.
The old cabin at the end of the ATV trail. The trail went farther than the cabin, but it's supposedly closed beyond this point.
Edit: I just added a Google Earth .KML and a .GPX file that'll show you how to get to the falls, railroad trestle, and cabin.
