    Zion: Spry Canyon

Bo and I spent the day in Spry Canyon with a research group from Dixie College yesteday. There was a lot of water in there, far more than usual, but it was not so cold. Most of us were able to get around one swim but we all plunged into that last one and it was not as bad as I remember from my last trip through there.

    Pictures to follow ---

    Thanks!

I got lots of cool shots on this trip, but wanted to show a close up of all 7 on the trip. I am anxious to make this album. But I won't have time until next week!

    Thanks!

The rapells have some fun and unique starts. That makes it a little more fun. Even the pool at the end was not so bad. Few of us had to swim, but Makayla and I did being the shortest of the group. The pool right before that one we played tarzen to stay out of it.

    Awesome pictures.
I noticed in one of your pics on the rappel at the end where you have to swim that you guys went down the left side of the tongue. When I saw this pic it reminded me of a question I wanted to ask about Spry. When my son and I did spry a few weeks ago. On the above mentioned rappel, before you rappel, out towards the mouth of the slot there is some webbing tied through a arch. There is alot of exposure to get to it and after i got to the bottom (we rappelled off the right side of the tongue to miss the pool) I didn't see what would really be gained by rappeling off of the webbing in the arch? You still have to swim through that last slot? Is the webbing just there to add a little zip to the canyon or did I miss something?
