    Otter Creek Reservoir

Went fishing at Otter Creek last July (trapped there during the big fire) and caught our limit of trout every day.

While the reservoir isn't scenic, the fish are awesome and catching the crayfish was fun too!

    Otter Creek can be found at these GPS coordinates (cut/paste into Google Earth): N 38 12 43.59 W 111 58 28.24

Best bait to use is yellow power bait or yellow salmon egg w/marshmellow (for mid-day fishing).

How far is that from SLC?

Did you just fished from the shore?
    How did you catch crayfish?

    Thanks for the TR!

We did a combination of fishing from shore and paddling out about 50' in an inflatable raft (cheap form Walmart).

The crayfish all all over the place on shore. The kids (and dogs) had fun catching them. Usually, in locations where there are bass, etc - the crayfish would make for great bait.

As far as distance, its about 100 miles south. Take I15 to I70, head toward Richfield, then take US89 or US24 south.

    Here's the Goole Maps link.

Was it hot in July? It looks like about a 4 hour drive from SLC?

    Again, thanks for the beta!

It wasn't too bad. Since it's smashed in a valley, we got plenty of shade. The smoke from the massive fire kept the sun to a minimum too.

The reservoir is very swim-able. Just wear water shoes wading out (to avoid stepping on the crayfish), then swimming is awesome!

Fun times. I've been down that way a couple of times this year.

Piute has treated me the best, but OC was fun. My wife, son, and I met up with a group from another forum there.

That canyon is beautiful between them.
