Hi!
So I'm supposed to introduce myself. My name is Cat and I'm new to Utah. I like hiking and backpacking, long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners...blah blah blah.
Just trying to get myself familiar with all the hiking opportunities possible. If anyone can give me info on Escalante or point me to some links, I'm hoping to make a trip there soon.
Thanks!

How technical you lookin to get in the Escalante area? For info on technical slots around there, check out the Trip Report Index in the Canyoneering section.
Welcome to the site! It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.

hello newb
this might sound like bs, but honestly your best bet for this would be to go buy a big cup of coffee and go to kirkhams or REI and browse their book sections. when i first moved here that's what i did and it had pleasing results.
it may cost you a few bucks, but there are some great "hiking" books published out there for this neato state of ours.
david day has done a bunch of great books.

Thanks for all the info.
The links are very helpful. I'm not a climber at all so I'm thinking that Escalante is not really what I'm looking for but maybe Bryce. I have 4 days to explore the area and I've been to Zion recently. Bryce and Escalante is what I will research.
I can hike to my heart's content in Utah!
Thanks again!
