    Sig P229 for carry???

I took my class for my CCP the other day. I go to BCI later in the week to set the wheels in motion. I've looked over tons of guns trying to decide which one would be my ideal for carry. I understand its very personal and what works for you but I'm still looking for suggestions. I'm looking at the Sig P229 in a .40. Does anyone have any experience with this gun? Any other suggestions? For those of you who do carry, how do you carry and where? What works and what doesn't? Any suggestions and comments are welcome. Thanks.

Here's a recent thread on what a lot of bogley-ites carry
    http://www.bogley.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10365

I would like to find a good way to carry mine, but for right now I just keep it in my pocket. My Keltec .380 is small enough, this works good enough for now.

I love my Sigs and did own a 229 in 40 for several years. At the time I did not have my CCW and it was just used it for killing paper plates. I sold it a few years ago and when I got my permit I purchased a Sig 239 in 40. It's just a bit smaller and more concealable to me.

I got the SAS model which has the DAK trigger system. I put 100 rounds thru it and like that system. From a carry stand point it may be a better choice than a DA/SA system.

IMHO, you can't go wrong with a Sig.

    Good luck,

Wow, looks like I'm not alone in the Sig thing. They are a little bit pricey in comparison but if I don't get what I want I'll never be happy. How do you guys feel about caliber, rounds/type, and techniques. I like the thought of having a nice big bullet that is goona mushroom and then stop inside like with a .45. At the same time I like the less wrist breakage with the 9MM and I think it makes it easier to shoot. I figure a nice compromise is the .40 or the .357mag. I tend to use the modified weiver. I focus on the front sight post. Breath in naturaly and exhaile completely. Thats you natural point of aim. Thats whre youwanna pull your trigger. You just have to be good with your triggle control so as not to jerk. Usuly gets me pretty good groups. Anyone else wanna let out their shoot magic? Maybe this has already been covered but how do you guys shoot?

I Know a guy at www.cwtnc.com who does all kinds of training. He was Army Special Forces for 8 or 12 years and hosts training classes on anything you can thing. Weither it's pistols, hand to hand, assault weapons, assault courses, and to top it all off, Hunters Safety. If anyone is interested check him out. He's probobly the cheepest I've found butit just Awesome when it comes to classes.

I would highly suggest shooting a variety of guns and seeing what fits your hand and what you shoot the best.

Get something you can train regularly with. (9 being somewhat more economical, especially with ammo prices the way they are and rising)

I have no clue about Sig. I love my Glock. It has the same trigger pull each time, not external hammer, no saftey lever to deal with easy to field strip ....
