    Milky Way

I was bored tonight, going through some images from warmer days past. Here is one from down in Escalante. ISO 3200, 2.8, 30 seconds, on my 5D with a 15mm fish. Painted with headlamps by a couple of us. (Can't remember if I posted this here before or not... )

That first one is pretty neat

Cool shots! The fisheye distortion adds to the whole effect.

Both pics are amazing, but I have to echo everyone else's reply; that first one is spectacular. (So there is a reason for the ISO 3200 setting )

    Very nice!!

I wish my ISO could go to 3200. Tops out at 400

WOW! I have to agree with the masses. This photo is incredible! It's so surreal and otherworldly looking! It looks like the rock pillar is glowing from within! That second one was taken at Fence canyon right? I remember seeing that one or something similar!

I'm almost embarrassed to post any of my photos after seeing YOURS! Almost!!!! We cain't all be good as you or we'd have nothing to admire or aspire to....I guess...

So do you have folks at the base of that rock shining lights on it?

Yep. Your good buddy Doug Noel, in fact. He was the only one I could stir up out of camp to actually walk down the road with me. Tough to do it with just one person, so thanks Doug!

Thanks for the kind words everyone else.

For chimney rock, we used headlamps. For the real big stuff, you use these:

Hmmmm...I need to invest in one of those for sure. Not only for "cool" light-up-the-night pictures, but I could also
use it as locator beacon for when I get lost in the wilderness.
I could bring down a small plane with one of those lights!

bump came back here to look at these sweet pics again.

Randi, I thought I had already answered your comment. I guess I forgot to hit submit. That is not my pic. Like I wrote earlier it is from the NPS at Natural Bridges NM on their website. http://www.nps.gov/nabr/naturescience/darkskypark.htm
