First time I ever visited Zion many moon's ago we hiked to the Upper Emerald Pool and Heaps was flowing like the picture. We figured it was like that all the time because we had nothing to compare it to and it was a sunny day outside.

I remember we hiked around the pool to the falls and were sticking our hands and stuff into the flow. I started to "take a shower" and got pelted by dozens of marble size rocks, it hurt like a mother. Thats when I discovered there were big rocks and crap in the water.

I've thought about that trip many times since I started canyoneering Zion. A the time I never dreamed I would one day descend Heaps and rappel that waterfall. Funny how things change in our lives.
